Officer nominations are here! Our elders and deacons play a huge role at Iron Works, so please take some time to prayerfully consider who you want to see fulfilling these roles. Nominations open on November 2nd, 2025, and are due by March 1st, 2026.

If you’re not familiar with the expectations, qualifications, and responsibilities of the elders and deacons, you can read them here.

Church Family Meeting

After the service February 15, stay for lunch, yes, but also for IWC's annual church family meeting. We'll discuss the coming year and look back on what God did here last year. We're ordering pizza; please let us know that you’re coming (and if you can bring a salad or dessert) below!

Meeting Agenda

Looking Back at Last Year: Hear from leadership about the ways we’ve seen God move—both within our church body as well as in our wider community—so that we might be encouraged and give thanks for God’s faithfulness.

Vision for the Year Ahead: What is the vision for IWC in the coming year, and how do we plan to get there? IWC leadership will present the aspirations for this year as well as the concrete steps we as a congregation will be taking to reach those goals.

Workday: Room Changes & Updates

IWC has some changes to the way we utilize our space in need of implementation, and your help is needed to make it happen! We’re meeting on February 28th at 8a, when we’ll share breakfast before getting to work on these updates. Here are the goals:

  • The staff office is moving to be next to Pastor Kent’s office, which will centralize staff within the building and open up the former (and larger) staff office to be more efficiently used for Sunday school classes, children’s church, and other meetings. This means there’s a lot of (mostly lightweight) furniture that needs swapping between rooms, as well as desktop computers and office supplies that need to be moved.

  • The nursery is getting a makeover with brand-new furniture, all of which needs assembling! (There’s rumors of a whale-shaped sensory wall, as well.) If you’ve noticed the pile in the nursery… here’s your chance to make it disappear, as well as to provide our little ones with a nicer environment to play in.

You don’t need to be a handy-man to come out and help! The diaconate would appreciate it if you RSVP by February 23rd so they can make realistic plans for what the teams will be able to get done.

Iron Sharpens Iron: Men's Breakfast

Continue exploring the men’s ministry theme of this year, “Man on Mission,” with the second men’s breakfast of 2026. Come on March 28th from 7–9a to worship through music; be encouraged through a testimony; and connect with other men in a meal, fellowship, and discussion of the keynote presentation. Attendance is free, but men’s ministry at Iron Works would benefit greatly from a $3 donation at the door if you’re led to give.

Finally, please RSVP sooner rather than later! While walk-ins are also welcome, it’s a huge help for leaders to know how much food to prepare and how many tables and chairs to set up.

Summer is often a time when our community rhythms are on hold - a time when Sunday schools and Bible studies are on break, when it’s harder to connect with other families because of vacations and summer camps. Take some time to reconnect with a potluck meal after the service on July 5th. Please sign up to bring a dish (or two) so that we have plenty of food!

Additionally, plenty of help is needed for setting up the meal and cleaning up afterwards. If you can help (even if its just for fifteen minutes!) please contact administrator Annika Griffith.

Child Abuse Prevention Training

Training details

If you are a children’s ministry volunteer or serve in any IWC leadership role (officer, staff, home group leader, ministry leader), stay after the service on June 22nd for a one-hour training and Q&A on IWC child abuse prevention policies.

It’s recommended that you read over the policies we’ll be discussing ahead of time so you can come with your questions prepared (and we can keep the training short!).

A pizza lunch will be provided, so please RSVP below by June 18th so leaders can order enough food.

If you have any questions, contact Stefany Gess.

Is it mandatory for you?

If you are a children’s ministry volunteer or serve in a leadership role at IWC (officer, staff, home group leader, ministry leader), this training is a mandatory requirement for your serving. It will replace the GRACE training requirement which was established in 2024 with a shorter seminar more focused on IWC policy.

Volunteers and leaders will be required to renew their safeguarding training every other year, with training seminars planned annually. Audio recordings will be made available in case you cannot make the year’s training seminar.

Communicants' Class

This is a 2-week class taking place on June 8th & 15th from 9:15–10:15a (during the usual Sunday School hour) for kids 1st–5th grade whose parents are members of Iron Works and who are interested in learning more about coming to the table (taking communion/becoming communing members). Students will learn more about the vows that are taken, the significance of the table, and what it means to be part of the church.

Attending the class does not mean a child has to be admitted to the table afterward, but we strongly encourage any child who’s interested in taking communion to take this class first.

Sign up for this class has finished.

Have an older child interested in coming to the table? For most teens, we recommend that they take part in the more comprehensive Exploring Iron Works class with our adult new members instead. If you have any questions, reach out to Sheyna Land or Pastor Kent Woodrow.
